Ditto on this, I just bought the one 18mm socket and keep it next to my other plug socket for autos.

You want an 18mm SPARK PLUG SOCKET , the spark plug socket has a rubber insert inside the socket to protect the porcelain part of the spark plug, I if you use a regular 18mm deep socket your risking cracking the plug which could redirect the spark. It only takes a hair line crack for this to happen.

I think somebody tried that, but the wall of the socket was too thick and it did not fit in the hole where the spark plug is. I could be wrong though, so give it a try and let us know. I have used just a regular socket for both the bike and a couple of hot rods that I have built in my youth and since then with no problems. But I am no mechanic, so if you have that experience, then I can respect that.

Or you could just be really careful and pay attention to what you're doing!

Sears Craftsmen 6pt 18mm thin wall sparkplug socket works great and the rubber insert is not to protect the sparkplug it's to help pull/insert sparkplugs in deep pockets, holds onto the plug so you can get it in and out without dropping it.
